| Well, I guess I can't avoid it anymore. I've been putting off posting the embarrassment of my race. I am finally out of my depression to talk about it. Anyway, so on the race day, October 11th I show up with all my co-workers, we are ready! Get there and sign up, easy, the girl line was the shortest, hang out and wait till we have a group exercise, that was fun, and we used a towel in the warm-up too. Here are some pictures too of us ready to go, happy and excited, unlike my picture at the end of the race. (where inside i want to kill everything) putting on our numbers: aki, kate kari and me. at the starting line an octopus, yep he was faster than me too So in Japan, everyone plays their role... it's hard to describe sometimes but they like their systems and that applies to the race in that there are time limits throughout the race, and if you don't get there in the time, they stop you and or pick you up in a BUS! Which would discourage many people from being in a race if they felt they would be one of the sad few who got picked up by the bus... Well, I am going strong, passed all my friends as they are turning around to go to the finish line, pass my last friend and she says you're almost there, the turn around is at the bus, i reach it 1 min later and they say (in Japanese) take off your number, you are going on the bus, you didn't reach the half-way point in time! I am shocked, literally i can't believe they are just going to stop me! I feel so defeated and disappointed in myself, I literally missed the time by 1 -2 mins. I have a pregnant friend doing the race too who planned on catching the bus back so I go sit with her, and we slowly make it back to the finish line with all the other losers, picking up others slow pokes on our way. When the bus finally gets there, the people are dispersing and taking down tents and i wanted to scream, HELLO, we're here! if you even care, that there were 50 people who still hadn't crossed the finish line, don't worry about us, we didn't die on the side of the road, although I'm sure they expected it. Some of you know how riled up i get when i upset, well this event brought that out in me for about 3-4 weeks, and my banning of exercise eventually led me to catch the flu (swine flu or other I didn't go to the doctor in case it was the swine flu because they make you stay home for 5 days! I would hate to miss that much school! ) Kate finished! Me and my pregnant friend who also rode the bus, she is laughing at all the jokes i am making at my expense. forced smile. well that is that. and now you know. on a positive note I had given up races forever as of that day until the next morning when my cousin Heidi asked if i would run in the hood to coast with the family in Kyle's honor, and i said yes.

| Wow, this is nuts, I haven't posted since before my last vacation. Since then I have done so much. So I went to Bali in the spring, when I got back I started with my new class. They are crazy, but they are learning. Summer school was rough, hardly did anything but work and sleep and I was so tired after the 1st trimester. Then a friend and I went on summer vaca to Beijing and Thailand. In Beijing we went to the GREAT WALL OF CHINA, I can't believe I did that in my lifetime, it feels very surreal that I did that. And then in Thailand, we relaxed and went to the beaches, read like 4 books, and recovered from being in China. (bed bugs, mosquitos, parasites, and all the people) The 2nd Trimester has already come on in full force, we did our Field Day and survived and had a lovely field trip tp the beach, and tomorrow is Green Day. Only 1 month to make a decision whether to stay one more year. Also new for me, in a 1/2 marathon on October 11, i hope i survive. Miss you friends & family. Later.

| so the bathing suits came. i totally ordered the wrong sizes! Oh well. I will try and send them back and get the right size. had a good weekend. although i ran out of kerosene for my heater and had to bundle up and wear 2 pairs of socks, 2 shirts, 2 sweaters and a blanket around my house to stay warm, i refused to wear gloves in my own house, so my hands were ice. made cherry jello and a nice dinner. (chicken avocado casserole) and watched Into the Wild. so good. so much natural beauty and it made me really want to explore and get rid of my material possessions.

| Guess what i just bought my ticket to go to Bali last night my last vaca with my friends here in Japan. I'll be there for 11 days and 10 glorious nights ! Temples, lakes, mountains, markets, massages, surfing, and BEACHES. this will be a great transition to loneliness and over-working. (i'm getting a new class on top of kindergarten) and in other news, i also bought some bathing suits last night too, from Victoria Secret. yikes, i hope they fit.

| how do you all like my new picture? i'm not too much for bragging about myself but i can't help it... i look so skinny ! i just realized this month that i have lost almost 30lbs since moving to Japan!! can you believe that i can't believe where all that was, maybe my face and tire. anyways i know that kind of talk makes you guys uncomfortable but its just amazing. last night i went snowboarding and i was remembering the first and 2nd time i went at powder king in BC with Jer and britt and once with eric and the other time wih dustan... anyways, it was so hard, it was so hard to get back up when i would fall down... but now when i go it is mad easy to get up, maybe because there is 30 lbs less to pick up off the snow. thank you japan bye
ps maybe in another blog i will put a before and after, if its not too embarrassing.
